• The council approved an ordinance to rezone the Howard Coleman Family property on Ritter Drive from A-1 (Agricultural) to R-1-8 (Single Family Residential).

RDA Board Meeting 5-16-17

• The RDA Board set a public hearing for 6-20-17 to adopt the final RDA budget for Fiscal Year 2018.
• The RDA Executive Director gave a short update on the status of the 550 W RDA area; nothing noteworthy to report.

Strategic Planning Meeting 5-13-17

• The council, mayor and city staff (department heads) reviewed the proposed final budget for Fiscal Year 2018.  We reviewed the situations with enterprise funds, each department in the general fund, capital projects, and RDA areas.
• A couple items of note were a 0.47 price per garbage can increase, and the institution of a late fee for public utility billing.  Most everything else is very similar to the previous budget.

City Council 5-2-17

• The city recognized Sergeant Curtis Jones for 15 years of service in the police dept.
• The council declared unclaimed property for public use, making it available (along with some city surplus items) for an upcoming public auction.
• The council adopted the “tentative” budget for fiscal year 2018.
• The council awarded a bid to Vermeer for a vacuum excavator for the public works dept for $82,750.00.

There will be City Council meetings on 6-6-17 and 6-20-17 (6-20 meeting will include public hearings concerning amendments to current budget, approval of next final budget and salaries).  The RDA Board will meet on 6-20-17 (including a public hearing concerning the final budget).  You can always find more detailed information at riverdalecity.com.
